Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East has welcomed the announcement that Connect Roads – comprising Balfour Beatty, Galliford Try (Morrison Construction) and Carillion as the preferred bidder for the AWPR project.
The £745m project comprises the bypass and making the Balmedie to Tipperty stretch of the A90 a dual carriageway.

“Residents and businesses across the North East will be pleased that at long last work on the construction of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route will soon commence after the Scottish Government announced Connect Roads as the preferred bidder for the project.
“The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) is vital to the future economic success and growth of the North East. After what has been over thirty years of campaigning for the road to be built I hope this vital investment in our infrastructure will help to keep Aberdeen and the North East is the engine of the Scottish economy.”

“Above all it is vital that we also see value for money and I will be pressing SNP Ministers for regular updates regarding the project to make sure it comes in on time and on budget.
“I am pleased that Scottish Conservative pressure has paid off and helped to deliver a cap on the contribution North East Councils will have to find to build the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR).”
