Commenting on the Scottish Chambers of Commerce response to the Scottish government’s consultation on the next railway franchise. Dr Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East has called on SNP Ministers to make the east coast rail network a priority area, and called for a timescale for when investment and improvements will take place on the rail network between Aberdeen and the central belt.
She said, “Aberdeen and the North East is arguably the powerhouse of the Scottish economy yet under the SNP we have seen delay after delay to improve our transport infrastructure.
“Under the SNP north east commuters have seen no real improvements to the rail network between Aberdeen and the central belt. Progress to improve the network such as opening new stations is moving at a snail’s pace under the SNP.
“I would like to see SNP Ministers sit up and see the need for investment to the North East rail network and for Ministers to recognise that an effective transport network is vital to economic growth in Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland.”
