“The closure of Tarves surgery will undoubtedly inconvenience patients in Tarves as well as many other rural residents particularly the elderly.
“I have written to the Chief Executive of NHS Grampian, Richard Carey outlining the local concerns which have been raised regarding the proposed closure of the GP surgery.
“It is vital that the views of local residents and the three community councils are taken on board by NHS Grampian and that the needs of local patients are put first.
“I have also written to Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health highlighting the concerns of the local community and called on the Cabinet Secretary to outline the SNP Scottish Governments position with regards to the closure of rural GP surgeries.
“SNP Ministers have been keen in the past to intervene and prevent the closure of NHS facilities and it is vital that Health Boards are given clear guidance on SNP Scottish Governments position with regards to the closure of rural GP surgeries.”
