Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East has welcomed the publication of the Scottish Government’s Oil & Gas Strategy 2012-2020: Maximising our Future. However, the North East MSP has questioned the mixed messages coming from Alex Salmond and the SNP on the future of the oil and gas sector.
She said, “I welcome the publication of the strategy which importantly points to the need to break down borders to help grow the industry and create jobs and wealth.
“There are still massive opportunities in the North Sea and the UK Conservative Government is determined to work closely with the industry and all interested parties to maximise this and do what we can to promote further investment and exploration. I hope this strategy can help to take forward these goals.
“Last week Alex Salmond was singing from the same song sheet as his left wing socialist and green friends who want to shut down the oil and gas industry in Scotland. This week he’s unveiling a new oil and gas strategy for Scotland. These mixed messages from Alex Salmond and the SNP do not help the industry.
“The UK Conservative Government has sought to provide the stability which the industry needs. Alex Salmond and the SNP are sadly rapidly becoming the voices of uncertainty and risk as they pursue an anti-business anti oil and gas agenda to attract referendum votes.”
