The Aberdeen bypass is set to finally proceed after campaigners lost their appeal to the UK’s Supreme Court. Welcoming the decision.
Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East said:
“The ruling by the UK Supreme Court is hugely welcome. North East residents have been waiting for the construction of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route for over thirty years and today I hope will finally give the green light to the project.
“The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route is vital to the economy of the North East. It is now time to put the delay to the construction of the road behind us and for SNP Ministers will give the green light for work to commence.
“I have written to Transport Minister Keith Brown asking him to up-date Parliament on when contstruction work will commence and to deliver a timetable for the delivery of these key infrastructure projects.
“The North East is the powerhouse of the Scottish economy yet the region has not seen the investment in the infrastructure projects the area so desperately needs.
“The delivery of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route should be a key national priority and given the same importance and status as the Force Replacement Crossing.”
