Margo Stewart has been elected to serve the ward of Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford following a by-election held on Thursday 5th November. Margo topped the poll with 1,469 beating her SNP opponent by 36 votes. There were two Councillor vacancies in the ward so both Margo Stewart and Gwyneth Petrie have been elected.
The full result was as follows,
SARAH FLAVELL (Scottish Labour Party) – 196
DANIEL MILLICAN (Scottish Liberal Democrats) – 928
GWYNETH PETRIE (Scottish National Party (SNP)) – 1,433
DEREK SCOTT (Scottish Libertarian Party) – 20
MARGO STEWART (Scottish Conservative and Unionist) – 1,469
Both Margo Stewart and Gwyneth Petrie were elected at the first stage.
The turnout was 34.51%
