Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East has welcomed the positive new business start-up figures published by the Committee of Scottish Clearing Bankers.
New business bank accounts at the first quarter of 2012 totaled 4,365 across Scotland. The total for the full year 2011 was 14,735.
Business start-ups in Aberdeen the first quarter of 2012 were 236, higher than any quarter in 2011, whilst in Aberdeenshire, there were 279 new business start-up.
Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East said:
“The number of new business in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire show positive growth with the number of business start-ups for the first quarter of 2012 up on every quarter from 2011. A trend which I hope will continue.
“It is encouraging to see that over 14,000 entrepreneurs across Scotland took the plunge and set up their own business last year. There are many willing and budding entrepreneurs in the north east, but they often need support to get their business ideas up and running.
“The UK Conservative Government has taken positive steps to help boost enterprise, support growth and build a new and more responsible economic model to create a fairer and more balanced economy. It is therefore very welcome news to see new business start-up figures.”
