Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East has given her support to the campaign to increase the speed limit for HGVs on single carriageways from 40 to 50 mph. The North East MSP has written to Keith Brown MSP, SNP Transport Minister to ask that the Scottish Government to undertake a consultation to increase the speed limit for HGVs on single carriageways from 40 to 50 mph.
Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East said:
“I support the campaign to increase the speed limit for HGVs on single carriageways from 40 to 50 mph.
“The UK Conservative Government has welcomed such proposals and has launched a consultation exercise in England and Wales.
“It is hoped that if the increase for HGVs is put in place the increase could help reduce any frustration for drivers who follow HGVs and the subsequent risks of vehicle collisions.
“I have written to Keith Brown MSP, SNP Transport Minister to ask that the Scottish Government to undertake a similar consultation.”
