Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East has called on the SNP Scottish Government to deliver the funding to NHS Grampian funded to take forward the NHS Grampian infrastructure projects proposal including the new Inverurie Health Centre and Community Maternity Unit, the Aboyne Health Centre, and Stonehaven Health Centre and additional theatre capacity. It is estimated that these projects would cost £14m.
The call comes following the First Minsters latest column which states: “These significant projects including the Inverurie Health Centre and Community Maternity Unit, could get under way now, rather than being delayed”.
Dr Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East and Shadow Minister for Public Health said:
“The UK Conservative Government has now provided the SNP Scottish Government with £394m in extra capital funding.
“Responsibility for Health is a devolved issue and lies with SNP Ministers. If the First Minister really wants the Inverurie Health Centre and Maternity Unit, the Aboyne Health Centre, the Stonehaven Health Centre, and additional theatre capacity to get under way, he now has the opportunity thanks to the UK Westminster Government to act and provide the funding to NHS Grampian.
“SNP Ministers took the decision in 2010 to claw back capital funding from NHS Grampian to cover the cost of the new southern general hospital in Glasgow – which resulted in NHS Grampian not proceeding with the planned Garioch Life Centre development.
“I hope that given the significant additional money provided to SNP Ministers by the UK Conservative Government the green light will now be given to build the new Inverurie Health Centre and Community Maternity Unit, the Aboyne Health Centre, and Stonehaven Health Centre and additional theatre capacity.
“It is vital that Inverurie secures a new health centre facility and that resources are not redirected away from the North East by the SNP towards to the central belt.
“I have written to the First Minister and Nicola Sturgeon MSP Minister for Infrastructure to make the case for NHS Grampian to receive the funding for the new Inverurie Health Centre and Maternity Unit, the Aboyne Health Centre, the Stonehaven Health Centre and additional theatre capacity.”
