Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East has welcomed BT Scotland’s announcement that exchanges serving, Inverurie, Peterhead, and Brechin are to be upgraded under the latest phase of BT’s £2.5 billion fibre super-fast broadband roll-out. The North East MSP has long campaigned for investment in rural broadband.
Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East said:
“The announcement by BT that they will roll out investment in the exchanges serving, Inverurie, Peterhead, and Brechin is welcome news.
“Digital technology has the potential to radically change the way we live and work and can provide great opportunities for people not only to work from home but to start or improve their own businesses.
“It is important that this technology and infrastructure is made available to homes and businesses across the North East and I have sought to lobby Ministers to priorities investment for rural communities. I will continue to make the case for additional investment for other North East communities.
“Ministers have given me an assurance that they will listen to the needs of North East communities both urban and rural and that specific problems and infrastructure requirement will be taken into account in forming the critical details of the Infrastructure Action Plan to ensure the plan remains dynamic and continues to evolve to keep pace with developments, and be adaptable to changing demand.
