Local Aberdeen City Councillor, Ross Thomson, has been selected as the Scottish Conservative candidate to contest the Aberdeen South and North Kincardine constituency at next year’s Scottish Parliament Election.
Ross has represented the Hazlehead/Ashley/Queen’s Cross ward since 2012 where he has built up a reputation as a hardworking and dedicated local Councillor.
This year Ross fought for the Aberdeen South constituency in the General Election where he succeeded in significantly increasing the Conservative vote in both numbers and share, it was the best result for the Scottish Conservatives in the North east.
Ross was chosen to stand at a meeting of local party members and activists who live within the constituency.
Ross has received the full backing of Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson MSP.
Councillor Ross Thomson said:
“As a born and bred Aberdonian, I know our communities well. I understand the real challenges which face residents across Aberdeen day in day out as I experience them too.
I have a strong and proven track record of delivering for local people with a reputation for getting things done, going the extra mile for my constituents and making the communities I represent an even better place to live and work.
If elected to Holyrood I will use that same drive, enthusiasm and determination to deliver change for the people of Aberdeen South and North Kincardine.
Our result in Aberdeen South this year provides a tremendous springboard into next year’s election and it shows that we are the most credible challengers to the SNP here.
The upcoming election will be a very clear choice between the SNP who are forever driven by a desire for independence or the Scottish Conservatives who will focus on delivering better services and who are the only party you can trust to defend the decision of the people last year to keep Scotland’s place firmly within the family of the UK.”
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson MSP said:
“I am delighted that Ross Thomson has been selected as the candidate for Aberdeen South and North Kincardine. Ross is a committed councillor who has already delivered in spades for his community in Aberdeen. He is also part of the next generation of Scottish Conservatives who will take our party – and the country – forward. Ross will make an excellent MSP, and I want him on my team for Holyrood next year.”
