SNP Ministers and Police Scotland risk throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP has accused Alex Salmond of washing his hands of Police Control Centre Closures. The North East MSP had appealed to the Aberdeenshire East MSP to intervene – instead the First Minster has passed the buck on to Kenny MacAskill.
Concerns have been raised that the suggested savings from closing the AberdeenPolice Control Centre are likely to not be realised. Police Scotland have been tasked to find savings of £6.9million. The recent Auditor General report highlighted that there was a lack of good data which made it difficult for the SPA to make informed decisions on different options for reform.
Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP said:
“Where has the First Minster been throughout Police Scotland’s mishandling and non-consultation on the closure of the Aberdeen Police Control Centre ?
“There is growing concern that suggested savings from the closure of the AberdeenPolice Control Centre are likely to not be realised. SNP Ministers and Police Scotland risk throwing the baby out with the bath water when they shut Aberdeen Police Control Centre.
“The recent Auditor General report noted that Police Scotland has yet to finalise a longer-term financial strategy which would require good understanding of the costs of policing something which SNP Ministers and Police Scotland have made limited progress on.
“Alex Salmond has shown zero leadership on this issue and has let down the North East.”
